Pinterest HAIR

So this is a super cute look I found on pinterest.  It is fairly simple too.  I kept my bangs down because they are too short to pin back with this do, however, I still like it.  I also decided to braid the sides ... super easy!
What do you think???

On a scale of 1-5 I would say this is a 2.  Try it out! ;)

Falsie eyelashes with BABYPOWDER?!?!

So I found this pin that I was interested in trying... everyone (well at least myself... I guess I am not everyone)... wants great looking lashes and there are so many different mascara's that claim to give you great lashes.  I myself use an eyelash primer before my mascara and I like it, but it definitely does not give them as much length and thickness as the lashes on the commercial! Go figure!

Here is the pin...

This blogger claims that using baby powder in between mascara applications helps make your lashes fuller and longer.  So I tried it.  I am not sure what I think, I will have to try it again but here are pictures afterwards...

They do look long, but I think they also look a little bit clumpy.  When I try it again, I will take before and after pictures and maybe I will do one eye without the powder and one with to see the difference.  Try it though... if it works for you, it is a lot less expensive then buying eyelash primers and all those other fancy mascara's.

And in case you are wondering, the mascara I used with it is Rimmel London's Sexy Curves Full Body Mascara.  Which I believe I bought from Ocean State Job Lot for $4 or $5.00.  I like it a lot!

Barley and Kale Salad

Hello Friends!
I wanted to share with you a recipe that has become such a huge hit among friends!  It was found on pinterest by a wonderful friend of mine and she so nicely made it and brought it to a girls night -- and since then... everyone who tries it loves it!  I have been asked to bring it to multiple functions and every time I hear of someone else making it, I get so excited.

It is healthy, delicious and filling. Eat is as a side, or use some pita chips to scoop it up with and have it as an appetizer!

Kale is one of the most nutritious vegetables out there, containing vitamins A,C and K, is full of fiber, and a great source of potassium and iron!
Barley is a fantastic alternative to pasta and is so much better for you.  Barley is also full of fiber, is rich in minerals, antioxidants and can help in aiding and preventing a multitude of diseases when eaten regularly.

With that being said... here ya go!

Barley Kale Salad
1 10-ounce bunch Lacinato (dinosaur kale), washed, leaves trimmed from stem and chopped
½ cup chopped parsley, one bunch
½ cup chopped red onion
½ cup good quality balsamic vinegar
Juice of two lemons (if you do not have lemons, you can also use limes- I have tried it and it tastes just as good -- B).
½ teaspoon kosher salt
Generous grinding of freshly ground black pepper
3 cups cooked barley
2 cups frozen edamame, cooked and cooled
½ cup dried cranberries

In a large bowl, combine the chopped kale, parsley and red onion. In a small bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, salt and black pepper. Add the vinegar mixture to the kale and toss together. Stir the barley, edamame and cranberries into the kale mixture. Taste, and add salt and pepper if needed. Refrigerate for 1 hour to let the flavors combine. Serve.

Original recipe found on pinterest through haverecipeswillcook and she has the link to where she got it from.

Into the Wild -- Rawr! ;)

Good evening,

So today I am feeling a bit under the weather so I tried my hardest to rest... unfortunately, that was quite difficult for me.  Did some work, but then also did something fun.  It was time for another pedicure! This time I was inspired off a picture I found on pinterest from the animal world! I'm not gonna lie-- I LOVE them! Check it out!

Healthy and YUMMY!

I wanted to share with you all a great new healthy find!!

I am always on the hunt for bars! Healthy bars that I can keep in my purse, in a pinch, when I do not have time to eat, or when I just need a quick snack to hold me over until my next meal.  I jumped on the band wagon for KIND bars and I still love them! However, I have found more to add to my list!

Oskri Bars!

I bought two kinds to try...

The first one being Fig Dark Chocolate Bar.  There is only 150 calories, and while the sugar content is quite high at 26g, most of that is natural sugar from the figs, this one only has 2g of protein.
  • Ingredients: Figs, Dark Chocolate (Sugar, Chocolate Liquor, Coco Butter, Soy Lecithin, Natural Vanilla)

The next one I tried was the Cashew and Cranberry Bar and OH MY GOODNESS!! SOOOO GOOD!! This one has 200 calories but only has 9g of sugar and 9g of protein.
  • Ingredients: Rice Syrup, Cashew, Rice Protein, Cranberries, Honey, Rice Crisp.

I found these at my local Marshall's, however you can get them on Amazon or from https://www.oskri.com/

They are dairy free, vegetarian, and gluten free! They have an amazing assortment of bars.  They also carry dried fruits, nuts, spices, cooking oils, syrups and spreads, granola's and crunches!

You have got to try them out!  You won't be disappointed!

Date night hair -- pinterest inspired

Guess what....

Another pinterest hair style!  The hubs and I are going out for a date night (which is extremely rare when we actually go out, instead of staying in to watch a movie), so I decided that I wanted to try and look nice for him! So of course I whipped out my laptop and looked up some hair styles on pinterest.

My only issue that I was concerned about is that my hair is on day 3 of not being washed.  It is so dry naturally that I try not to wash it more than every 2-3 days.  I am getting my hair trimmed tomorrow, so I just figured I would wait and have her wash it for me (don't worry, I still shower!).

Anyways... that meant prob not much for curling, but more of like a beachy wave possibly, or something all up and pinned.  So this is what I ended up following:
Here is my own try... although I do not own a pretty and sparkly headband, so mine was a bit more boring...
So it is not perfect... but I will def try again when my hair is cleaner and shinier!  But I do love the side hair styles, so I enjoyed wearing this do!
