22 Amazing and Practical Uses for Hairspray

I wanted to share this article I saw that someone pinned on pinterest from babble.com.

Stain Remover

You may have heard of this one, but it really works. I’m convinced the combination of hairspray and Tide To Go will remove anything.

Bug Killer

Hairspray is less toxic than chemical bug sprays but just as effective at stopping flies, mosquitoes, and even bees.

Wreath Preserver

Coat your next evergreen wreath with hairspray. The polymers help seal in moisture to help the greenery last longer.

Sidewalk Chalk Sealant

When your kids create a masterpiece or hopscotch board, help it last longer and prevent smudging with a coat of hairspray. This also works for chalk lines used during home improvement.

Shoe Polish Extender

Spray a light coat onto shoes after polishing to set the color and help it last longer.

Index Card Protector

Give index cards a couple coats of hairspray to make them spill proof. This works great for recipe cards.

Cut Flower Life Extender

I’m not sure I’d dare try this, but I’m told that adding a light coat to the underside of cut flowers help them to last longer by sealing in moisture.

Rub On Transfer Creator

Follow this tutorial to make your own rub-on transfers using hairspray. You can use the rub-on transfers for scrapbooking, cards, crafts, or for creating a cool design on your nails, like the one above found at Geez...

Pet Fur Grabber

Spray hairspray onto a paper towel or rag, then run it over furniture or carpets to easily clean up stubborn pet fur.

Nail Polish Dryer

As this video shows, hold a can of aerosol hairspray a good distance away from nails and lightly coat each nail to help speed drying.

Run Stopper

We all know the clear nail polish trick for pantyhose runs, but hairspray will also do the trick. In fact, you can pre-treat pantyhose with a light coat of hairspray to strengthen fibers and prevent runs in the first place.

Zipper Stiffener

Have a zipper that keeps falling down? Spray it with hairspray to harden the teeth and prevent wardrobe malfunctions. This trick also works on loose screw and hinges.

Leaf Preserver

If you plan to go leaf hunting with your little ones this fall, spray your finds with hairspray to help preserve their color longer. This also works with dried or pressed flowers.

Self Defense

In a pinch, a shot of hairspray to the eyes of an attacker could buy you some time.

Newspaper Transformer

I love to reuse newspapers as gift wrap. Spraying the sheets with a couple light coats of hairspray will strengthen the paper, make the colors pop, and seal the ink so it won’t get all over your hands.

Curtain Protector

Spraying curtains with hairspray prior to hanging helps to ward off dust from clinging to the fabric and prevents wrinkles and creases.

Label Remover

Hairspray helps remove that sticky residue left over when you peel off a sticker or label.

Nail Polish Remover

If you spill nail polish on a rug or piece of furniture, you will not want to use acetone-based nail polish remover to clean it. Instead, spray the stain with hairspray, let it sit for a minute, then dab with a rag. Repeat until the polish is gone.

Static eliminator

Spray hairspray on a brush prior to using to prevent a hair-raising experience. You can also use hairspray on the underside of clinging clothing to eliminate static.

Glitterizer

Yes, I just made that word up, but hairspray is a great way to coat your craft items with glitter! Coat the item with spray, sprinkle on glitter, shake off excess, and then seal with another coat of hairspray.

Artwork Conservation

Kid’s non-toxic paints and markers aren’t meant to be archival. Coating them with a light spritz of hairspray will help them last longer.

Lint Remover

Don’t have a lint roller handy? Spray a little hairspray on a rag and wipe your clothing. The lint will stick to the hairspray and come right off.

Pinterest HAIR

So this is a super cute look I found on pinterest.  It is fairly simple too.  I kept my bangs down because they are too short to pin back with this do, however, I still like it.  I also decided to braid the sides ... super easy!
What do you think???

On a scale of 1-5 I would say this is a 2.  Try it out! ;)

Falsie eyelashes with BABYPOWDER?!?!

So I found this pin that I was interested in trying... everyone (well at least myself... I guess I am not everyone)... wants great looking lashes and there are so many different mascara's that claim to give you great lashes.  I myself use an eyelash primer before my mascara and I like it, but it definitely does not give them as much length and thickness as the lashes on the commercial! Go figure!

Here is the pin...

http://pinterest.com/pin/60165344993720904/

This blogger claims that using baby powder in between mascara applications helps make your lashes fuller and longer.  So I tried it.  I am not sure what I think, I will have to try it again but here are pictures afterwards...

They do look long, but I think they also look a little bit clumpy.  When I try it again, I will take before and after pictures and maybe I will do one eye without the powder and one with to see the difference.  Try it though... if it works for you, it is a lot less expensive then buying eyelash primers and all those other fancy mascara's.

And in case you are wondering, the mascara I used with it is Rimmel London's Sexy Curves Full Body Mascara.  Which I believe I bought from Ocean State Job Lot for $4 or $5.00.  I like it a lot!

Barley and Kale Salad

Hello Friends!
I wanted to share with you a recipe that has become such a huge hit among friends!  It was found on pinterest by a wonderful friend of mine and she so nicely made it and brought it to a girls night -- and since then... everyone who tries it loves it!  I have been asked to bring it to multiple functions and every time I hear of someone else making it, I get so excited.

It is healthy, delicious and filling. Eat is as a side, or use some pita chips to scoop it up with and have it as an appetizer!

Kale is one of the most nutritious vegetables out there, containing vitamins A,C and K, is full of fiber, and a great source of potassium and iron!
Barley is a fantastic alternative to pasta and is so much better for you.  Barley is also full of fiber, is rich in minerals, antioxidants and can help in aiding and preventing a multitude of diseases when eaten regularly.

With that being said... here ya go!

Barley Kale Salad
1 10-ounce bunch Lacinato (dinosaur kale), washed, leaves trimmed from stem and chopped
½ cup chopped parsley, one bunch
½ cup chopped red onion
½ cup good quality balsamic vinegar
Juice of two lemons (if you do not have lemons, you can also use limes- I have tried it and it tastes just as good -- B).
½ teaspoon kosher salt
Generous grinding of freshly ground black pepper
3 cups cooked barley
2 cups frozen edamame, cooked and cooled
½ cup dried cranberries

In a large bowl, combine the chopped kale, parsley and red onion. In a small bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, salt and black pepper. Add the vinegar mixture to the kale and toss together. Stir the barley, edamame and cranberries into the kale mixture. Taste, and add salt and pepper if needed. Refrigerate for 1 hour to let the flavors combine. Serve.

Original recipe found on pinterest through haverecipeswillcook and she has the link to where she got it from.

Good evening,

So today I am feeling a bit under the weather so I tried my hardest to rest... unfortunately, that was quite difficult for me.  Did some work, but then also did something fun.  It was time for another pedicure! This time I was inspired off a picture I found on pinterest from the animal world! I'm not gonna lie-- I LOVE them! Check it out!

Healthy and YUMMY!

I wanted to share with you all a great new healthy find!!

I am always on the hunt for bars! Healthy bars that I can keep in my purse, in a pinch, when I do not have time to eat, or when I just need a quick snack to hold me over until my next meal.  I jumped on the band wagon for KIND bars and I still love them! However, I have found more to add to my list!

Oskri Bars!

I bought two kinds to try...

The first one being Fig Dark Chocolate Bar.  There is only 150 calories, and while the sugar content is quite high at 26g, most of that is natural sugar from the figs, this one only has 2g of protein.
  • Ingredients: Figs, Dark Chocolate (Sugar, Chocolate Liquor, Coco Butter, Soy Lecithin, Natural Vanilla)

The next one I tried was the Cashew and Cranberry Bar and OH MY GOODNESS!! SOOOO GOOD!! This one has 200 calories but only has 9g of sugar and 9g of protein.
  • Ingredients: Rice Syrup, Cashew, Rice Protein, Cranberries, Honey, Rice Crisp.

I found these at my local Marshall's, however you can get them on Amazon or from https://www.oskri.com/

They are dairy free, vegetarian, and gluten free! They have an amazing assortment of bars.  They also carry dried fruits, nuts, spices, cooking oils, syrups and spreads, granola's and crunches!

You have got to try them out!  You won't be disappointed!

Date night hair -- pinterest inspired

Guess what....

Another pinterest hair style!  The hubs and I are going out for a date night (which is extremely rare when we actually go out, instead of staying in to watch a movie), so I decided that I wanted to try and look nice for him! So of course I whipped out my laptop and looked up some hair styles on pinterest.

My only issue that I was concerned about is that my hair is on day 3 of not being washed.  It is so dry naturally that I try not to wash it more than every 2-3 days.  I am getting my hair trimmed tomorrow, so I just figured I would wait and have her wash it for me (don't worry, I still shower!).

Anyways... that meant prob not much for curling, but more of like a beachy wave possibly, or something all up and pinned.  So this is what I ended up following:
Here is my own try... although I do not own a pretty and sparkly headband, so mine was a bit more boring...
So it is not perfect... but I will def try again when my hair is cleaner and shinier!  But I do love the side hair styles, so I enjoyed wearing this do!
